After breakfast, visit to the Independence square, the location where Ghana was first declared a country free from colonization. Later, we will visit the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum (the final resting place of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President).

In the morning, we set off for the Ashanti Region through the Eastern Region with a stopover at a bead market in Koforidua. On arrival, we will visit the Kumasi Cultural Center and the Prempeh II Museum to observe the beautiful artifacts from the Ashanti Kingdom. You will learn more about the history and culture of the Ashanti people

Start the day with a visit to the Manhyia Palace, the seat of the Ashanti Kingdom. After lunch, we will visit the craft villages of Ntonso, a village famous for adinkra design. Learn the process of Adinkra printing from Master. Also visit the village of Adanwomase (Kente specialists) to purchase kente from the source.

Morning departure for the Central Region. Stopover at Assin Manso, the site of the “last bath” where slaves were taken for a bath before being shipped to the new world. Spend the rest of the evening relaxing at our hotel.

Join in a naming ceremony amidst drumming and dancing. Participants will be given traditional names. Continue the day with a visit to the Elmina Castle built in 1482 by the Portuguese.
After lunch, we visit the Kakum National Park to experience a walk across the Canopy Walkway.

After breakfast, we set off on a day trip to the Western Region along a coastline marked with forts and castles including Fort St. Sebastian, a prime example of both Portuguese and Dutch influences. Also visit the Bisa Aberwa Museum, dedicated to promoting African values and celebrating Pan-African heroes. After homemade fufu & soup in Sekondi, return to Cape Coast.

Join in a cooking this morning. After feasting on the meals prepared. Continue to the Cape Coast Castle (Fort Carlsborg), which was under Swedish administration. Experience a walk through the Door of No Return. Marking the beginning of a perilous journey of our ancestors. Only this time we will also experience a return through the same doors. Return to Accra.
End the day with a Farewell Dinner.

Togo & Benin Extension
Set off for Togo with a stopover at the Nkyinkyim outdoor museum of Kwame Akoto Bamfo, which seamlessly combines African art, history and performance. Continue to the Aflao border for formalities to cross into Togo. On arrival, enjoy a city tour with a visit to the colorful Lomé central market, or Grand Marche, where pearls, baskets, pottery and sacred pieces are on display. Experience Lome nightlife and street food.

Early departure for Agbodrafo for a boatride to Togoville, the historical centre of voodoo as it was here that voodoo practitioners were taken as slaves to Haiti. A walk through the town will include a visit of the German Cathedral and some voodoo shrines. Also visit traditional museum of the King of Togoville. German cathedral, the local market, the Also visit the ancient Visit the Slave house (Wood Home) in Agbodrafo before we cross the border into Benin. In Ouidah, we will visit the Sacred Forest and the Temple of the Pythons, both important voodoo shrines and the Door of no Return. Continue trip to Cotonou.

In the morning we will stop to view the Woman Warrior statue. Continue to the Dantokpa Market and the Artisans Center. Depart for Ganvie, the “Venice” of the Continent is a 500-year-old village on water. In ancient times people took refuge on Lake Nokoue from the attacks of the Fons and the Dahomey warriors, who were forbidden by a deep belief to fight on water. Return to Lome.

After breakfast, we will visit the Palais de Lome and the Art street. Cross the border into Ghana for a 4 hour drive to Accra. After dinner, we check into airport (ACC) for departure.
