Must-Do’s When Visiting Bali

Bali is known as the land of Gods for its beautiful exotic beaches and clear waters. It is a safe haven for surfers and often a famous vacationing spot for celebrities. Bali is surprisingly affordable and completely worth it.

You can enjoy Bali's extraordinary energy and compassionate nature. The airy resorts and spa channel is an intimate Balinese coastal town, nestled in a soothing harbor across 3 miles of white sand. We bring you a greater grasp of the island's magnificent scenery and distinctive culture through breathtaking viewpoints and phenomenal opportunities for cultural activities.

The History of Bali

Early inhabitants in Bali embraced Buddhism and Hinduism, which are still the predominant faiths today. These faiths' contributions can be observed in architectural designs, creative arts, and cultural practices. A Balinese prince wedded a Javanese princess within the 10th century, resulting in a temporary alliance between the governorates. Nevertheless, Bali maintained its practice and cultivated its separate identity, independent of Java.

Cornelis de Houtman, a Dutch adventurer, landed in Bali in 1557 and formed the Dutch East India Company in 1602. Soon after, the Dutch acquired economic and political dominance of Bali for several years until the European conflicts between 1795 and 1815 caused sovereignty to move from the French to the British and then back to the Dutch.

Indonesia did not declare liberation against the dutch until 1945 when the Balinese recovered power. The airstrip was refurbished in the 1960s, kicking off the tourism boom in Bali. Tragically, Mount Agung erupted three years later, killing thousands of civilians and destroying entire communities. The eruption also had a significant impact on the tourism business in Bali. Nonetheless, an Australian cinematographer made a short film about Bali in the 1970s, which resulted in a large influx of Australian vacationers.

What is Bali Known For?

Bali is known for its beautiful beaches, clear water, and perfect summer vacation spots. Bali is the embodiment of an ideal sandy holiday with fine dining cuisines and a strip of the finest resorts and spas.

Things to Do / Must-do Activities

Tanah Lot Temple

Tanah Lot bears honor to the ocean's guardian deities and is one of Bali's most important sea temples. The oceanfront site is filled with miniature chapels and tourist amenities like stores, historical centers with frequent stage shows, and eateries where you can have a sunset banquet with a beautiful view.

Tanah Lot is one of the region's foremost recognizable sanctuaries, perched on a cliff and encircled with open sea waves that crash against its base. The temple is beautiful throughout the day, its steps thrashing by the clear waters and blue sky.

Tegallalang Rice Terraces

The rice terraces on Tegallalang include some of the most extraordinary vistas in Ubud. Tegallalang is situated in the north of Ubud's primary location. Along the main highway of Jalan Tegallalang, the roadside stalls and art stores sell various things and trinkets, along with modest bistros brunch or meals with a scenic backdrop of the deep and green hillside.

The rice terraces extend lower down to the valley's far contrary direction. Aside from taking in the scenery from above, you may also descend and walk the route into the rice fields, meeting producers and admiring the meadows close and personal.

Ubud Art Market

Ubud Art Market is a crucial Ubud icon, ideally situated throughout the street across the Royal Palace. Numerous tiny stores owned by local sellers sell a variety of things such as gorgeous pashminas, breezy garments, handcrafted bags, baskets, sculptures, and several other locally sourced and manufactured products.

The majority of the merchandise available in the Bazar is manufactured in the surrounding communities of Tegallalang, Payangan, Pengosekan, and Peliatan. Therefore, negotiation is necessary.

Surfing

Thanks to the vast list of significant surf sites, there is no lack of waves for expert surfers. There are also many mellower surf places for intermediate surfers and beach break choices for beginners.

Suppose you've been contemplating a surf vacation to Bali. In that case, this is the most up-to-date and comprehensive surf itinerary for you and anybody who may be traveling to enjoy the most fantastic beaches in Bali instead of just surfing.

Food & Culture in Bali

You've probably heard of nasi goring, but you might not know that nasi goreng is part of a famous traditional Balinese cuisine, but that's not all Balinese cuisine has. Bali's food has many flavors, including rich staple spices like ginger, garlic, lime, nutmeg, coriander, fish sauce, and soy sauces; meat staples are usually chicken, pork, and mutton, mainly seafood- considering the fresh catch from the coastal lines of Bali.

Among the most popular foods in Bali are; roast pig, sambal (hot sauce made with shrimp paste, chilis, and vinegar), pork stew, and crispy duck. Coconut water, Balinese coffee, and ginger-based sodas are popular beverages in Bali.

Language

Language is one of the instruments that individuals use to connect. Language is established in every location on the planet. There are several languages, and Indonesia is one of the countries with a large number of provinces.

With multiple islands and provinces inside its borders, Indonesia has a single official language known as Balinese. Despite the fact that this country has more than 30 provinces, Indonesia is known chiefly for its central region, Bali. Bali is the most popular vacation spot for tourists and travelers. Though Balinese is the most popular language, other comprehensive spoken languages across Indonesia include Bahasa Indonesian or just Indonesian and English.

Religion

Being almost part of India, Indonesia has a couple of cultural similarities to it, including the most widespread religion in Bali- Hinduism. Though Hinduism is the religion of the vast majority, 82% of Indonesia follows Islam. People in Balinese culture are highly mindful and respectful of nature because everything contains a divinity. Ceremonies, festivals, pilgrimage, dances, and cremation to commemorate the deceased are all part of Balinese culture and religion. Bali's holiday cycle is jam-packed with religious events to respect various deities and traditions.
