The Perfect Travel Destinations For The Black Woman

Are you a traveling black woman seeking friendly countries to travel to? Well, if you are, know that traveling while being a black woman is different. Your outlook will draw attention in several places around the world. In addition, one of the biggest concerns that black women travelers have when traveling globally is safety, and it's no surprise that they may be reluctant to book a flight for themselves to spend quality time.

With six months of the year passing by already, you may want to keep an eye on the top destinations for black women travelers so you can plan your future travel. In recent years, traveling has become more of a black American leisure activity. So, look no further than this guide, whether you want to travel alone or in a group to your dream destinations.

Here are the top ten places to visit in 2023 & 2024 for black women travelers. You should at least visit them once in a lifetime, and they are a must to have on your travel bucket list.

1. Accra, Ghana

Accra, Ghana's capital and largest city, is located on the Gulf of Guinea. Ghana began inviting people of African descent to visit by promising convenient visa applications and a year-long calendar of culturally immersive events. Since many people have returned to Ghana to reconnect with their ancestors, there hasn’t been a better time for black women to visit.

Accra's must-see attractions include Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Labadi Beach, Black Star Gate, and Artists Alliance Gallery. You must visit Accra once if you are a black woman traveler.

2. South Africa

South Africa, officially the Republic of South Africa, is an excellent first-time safari destination. There's Golden Savannah, Great Gaping Gorges, hauntingly beautiful deserts, and a breathtaking cast of African creatures.

South Africa appears to have all of the hallmarks of a great vacation destination: sun, sand, safari, and mountains. However, if you dig a little deeper, you'll discover that it also has spirit. South Africa's painful apartheid history is especially relevant to African-American travelers, and the cultural revival in places like Johannesburg's Maboneng district is a sight to behold.

3. Brazil

"The body of America and the soul of Africa" is a no-brainer for Black women. Brazil has one of the largest African populations, with Nigerians leading the charts. There is much to learn from how this place blended African and Portuguese traditions.

Black women travelers can take full advantage of and immerse themselves in a rich and accessible art community. It should be on the wish list of all travelers, whether black women travelers or otherwise. It's especially good to know you'll be greeted warmly if you arrive solo!

4. France

"L'Hexagone" is the name the French gave their beloved homeland because of its distinctive six-sided shape. Each region of France has its distinct personality. There is no better country to practice self-care than France.

From the beaches of the Riviera to the cafes of Paris, there is no better place to luxuriate yourself. Whether you want to go castle hopping in the Loire Valley, take a wine-tasting class in Bordeaux, or get swept up in the romance of the cultural Alsace region, France is the place to relax, unwind, and find your true self.

5. Dubai

For first-time visitors to the Middle East, Dubai and Abu Dhabi are cosmopolitan destinations that serve as outstanding intros. They offer magnificence, luxury, and distinct culture. Dubai is well-known for modern tourist attractions such as the Burj Khalifa (the world's tallest building) and shopping malls with massive terrariums and indoor ski resorts. You won't wish to leave with impressive attractions like the 7-star Burj Al Arab hotel, fun activities like desert safaris, and a buzzing party scene!

6. Thailand

Thailand entices tourists with a grin as golden as the country's glittering temples and tropical beaches. It is friendly and food-obsessed, sensual and iconic, cultured and inquisitive. Thailand has a lot to offer: the beaches are beautiful, the temples are impressive, and the food is inexpensive and delicious.

Thai people are also known for being friendly and welcoming, especially Black women travelers. While the stares can be daunting, they are primarily motivated by admiration and wonderment. Don't be surprised if you are called "Obama"!

7. Maldives

A Maldivian vacation is an ideal way to reward yourself when the grind becomes too much to bear. The clear turquoise waters and luxury villas, after all, must be seen to be trusted. However, the National Museum, Addu Atoll, Maafushi Island, Grand Friday Mosque, and Fulhadhoo Island are a few of the must-visits if you want some enthralling experience.

8. Portugal

History, delicious food, and picturesque scenery are just the starting point. The Portuguese experience includes medieval castles, cobblestone villages, mesmerizing cities, and pristine beaches. Freshly baked bread, olives, cheese, red wine and crisp Vinho Verde (young wine), chargrilled fish, cataplana (seafood stew), and smoked meats – the locals have mastered the art of preparing simple, tasty meals. Sitting down to eat means experiencing the bounty of Portugal's fruitful countryside and abundant shoreline.

9. Tokyo, Japan

Due to its peculiar fetish culture, outrageous fashion, and steadfast respect for ritual and tradition, the "Land of the Rising Sun" is probably the most beautiful place you'll ever visit. Even more captivating is the country's deep admiration for (and appropriation of) rap music and dancehall reggae music, with nightclubs packed with Japanese B-boys and dancehall fans in most major metropolitan areas.

10.  Tanzania

There are numerous reasons to visit Tanzania. Thrill-seekers can climb Mount Kilimanjaro, eager observers can go on safari in the Serengeti, and sunbathers can visit Zanzibar's coastline. Witness the world's only tree-climbing lions that live in Lake Manyara National Park. A trip to this country will also serve as enlightening for any African American who wants to learn more about their ancestors.
